IRCC Alerts Visa Applicants About Immigration Scams

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued a public advisory warning visa applicants against scams that claim to guarantee immigration results or offer special selection programs. The advisory, shared on IRCC's X handle, clarified that no lottery, shortcut, or secret program can assure anyone's selection for immigration to Canada.

It stated that no individual or organization can promise expedited processing or approval of immigration applications. The advisory included key steps for applicants to protect themselves: obtaining information solely from official Government of Canada sources, being cautious of anyone requesting money for guaranteed results, and refraining from making payments or sharing personal information unless through official IRCC platforms.

IRCC noted that scammers often target individuals via social media, emails, and phone calls with false claims. The advisory concluded by reminding applicants that only authorized IRCC officers can make decisions on immigration applications based on eligibility criteria and encouraged reporting any suspicious offers.
