Canada Enforces Five-Year Travel Ban for Immigration Fraud

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has implemented a five-year travel ban for individuals who submit false or altered documents in their immigration applications. This warning was issued on X, highlighting that immigration fraud can involve various documents such as passports, visas, and medical records.

IRCC stated that providing false information during medical examinations is also considered fraud. If false documents are submitted, applications may be refused, and individuals could face permanent fraud records, loss of residency or citizenship, and a ban from applying for citizenship for five years.

The IRCC cautioned against relationships of convenience, where individuals enter marriages primarily for immigration benefits, and noted that Canadian citizens involved in such arrangements could face criminal charges. Additionally, the department warned about chargeback fraud related to visa application fees, which could lead to application cancellations and travel bans of up to ten years.

IRCC collaborates with various agencies to detect and investigate immigration fraud.
