Bubista Resigns as Cape Verde Coach, Joins Renaissance Berkane

Bubista, whose real name is Pedro Leitao Brito, has been appointed as the coach of Morocco’s Renaissance Berkane after resigning from his position as the coach of Cape Verde. The announcement was made by the club on Tuesday, following protracted negotiations that initially considered the possibility of him juggling both roles.

The Cape Verdean Football Federation expressed gratitude for Bubista's dedication and professionalism, noting that they are actively searching for a new coach. Bubista, aged 56, was recognized as African Coach of the Year in 2025 after leading Cape Verde to their first World Cup qualification.

The team competed in the tournament alongside Spain and Uruguay, reaching the round of 32 before being eliminated after extra time. Renaissance Berkane, his new club, won the Moroccan league in 2025 and were runners-up in the following season, also reaching the African Champions League semi-finals last season.
