Benjamin Fredrick Set for Brentford Debut in Carabao Cup

Super Eagles defender Benjamin Fredrick is poised to make his competitive debut for Brentford in the Carabao Cup clash against Reading. Fredrick joined Brentford on loan from Simoiben Football Academy in August 2023, and this deal was converted into a permanent transfer in April 2024, where he signed a four-year contract.

The 21-year-old has been included in Brentford's matchday squad twice previously. Brentford's manager, Keith Andrews, confirmed that Fredrick will feature in the match, stating, “He (Fredrick) hasn’t had a lot of football.

We decided not to play him yesterday (Sunday) in the B team game to make sure he was in the right place to be available (today).” Fredrick spent the previous season on loan with Belgian club Dender EH and sustained an injury while on international duty with Nigeria last November, which caused him to miss the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
