Cardoso Receives Global Banking Honor Amid Economic Reforms

Olayemi Cardoso, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was honored with the Central Bank Governor of the Year 2026 award in London on June 10, 2026. This accolade acknowledges his reform agenda and commitment to restoring confidence in Nigeria's economy, which has faced macroeconomic distortions, foreign exchange uncertainties, and high inflation.

Cardoso declined to take personal credit for the award, dedicating it instead to the board, management, and staff of the CBN.
