CAS Confirms Senegal's Appeal Against CAF's AFCON Decision

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has confirmed that the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has filed an appeal against the Confederation of African Football (CAF) regarding its decision to award the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title to Morocco. The FSF submitted its appeal on Tuesday, March 25, 2023, requesting that CAF's decision be set aside and that they be declared the winners of AFCON.

Additionally, the FSF is seeking an immediate suspension of the decision. The CAS has established that the time limit for submitting the appeal brief will remain until CAF notifies the full grounds for its decision.

A panel will be appointed by CAS to consider the matter, and a procedural calendar will be established. Matthieu Reeb, the CAS Director General, stated that the organization is well-equipped to resolve such disputes and will ensure that the arbitration process is conducted as swiftly as possible while respecting the rights of all parties involved.
