CAS Confirms Senegal's AFCON Title Appeal Against Morocco

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has confirmed receipt of an appeal from the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) concerning the AFCON 2025 title, which Senegal won 1-0 in extra time against Morocco. This match was marked by a 15-minute walkout in protest of a penalty awarded to Morocco, which they failed to convert.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has launched an appeal to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to overturn the title decision, requesting a 3-0 forfeit. The FSF's appeal seeks to set aside the CAF's decision and declare Senegal as the winner of the tournament.

The CAS has indicated that it will appoint an arbitration panel for the case, but no timeline for the hearing has been set due to Senegal's request for an indefinite period to respond. Matthieu Reeb, the CAS Director General, stated that the court is prepared to hear the case and ensure a fair process for all parties involved.
