CashAfrica Partners with Food Concepts for Tap-to-Pay in Nigeria

CashAfrica, a Nigerian contactless payment infrastructure provider, has partnered with Food Concepts, the parent company of Chicken Republic, to introduce mobile tap-to-pay services at Chicken Republic outlets throughout Nigeria. This phased rollout will commence in Lagos and later extend to Abuja and other locations.
Chicken Republic operates over 350 outlets and reported ₦60.9 billion ($45.7 million) in sales in 2023. Malik Asamu, CashAfrica’s chief executive officer, stated that this strategic partnership aims to mainstream mobile tap-to-pay services while enhancing the payment experience for users.
Previously, Nigerian users had limited payment options, including transfers, cards, QR codes, and cash. The partnership with Food Concepts follows CashAfrica's earlier collaborations with ChamsSwitch and PalmPay to improve regulatory compliance and expand contactless payment functionalities.
CashAfrica was founded in 2024 by Malik Asamu and Bello Opeyemi, providing infrastructure for banks and fintechs to integrate contactless transactions.
