Archbishop Martins Inspires New Clergy to Offer Hope

During a priestly and diaconate ordination ceremony for the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, Archbishop Martins emphasized the importance of the newly ordained clergy in providing hope to the community amid Nigeria's economic and social challenges. Six deacons were ordained as priests, and 14 seminarians were ordained as deacons, bringing the total number of newly ordained clergy to 20.

Archbishop Martins urged the new clergy to remain faithful to their vocation, live exemplary lives, and use their ministry to address societal issues, particularly those affecting leadership. He expressed gratitude for the additional laborers in God’s vineyard to meet the Church's growing pastoral needs.

Furthermore, he commented on the Nigerian economy, calling for improvements that should be felt by citizens and urged the government to utilize resources effectively for citizen welfare. He encouraged citizens to stay engaged in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 general election and to exercise their voting rights.
