Catholic Bishops Empower 200 Households in Ekiti State

On Wednesday, during a graduation ceremony in Aramoko Ekiti, Catholic Bishop Felix Ajakaiy announced the empowerment of 200 households in Ekiti State to combat poverty through agricultural initiatives. This program, facilitated by Caritas Nigeria in collaboration with the Conrad Hilton Foundation, provides beneficiaries with starter kits and vocational training in various agricultural processes, including rice, fish, tomato, pepper, and cassava processing.

The initiative aims to build sustainable livelihoods and strengthen community resilience. Ajakaiy emphasized the importance of this program in uplifting economically disadvantaged families, stating that when one person becomes economically empowered, the entire household benefits.

Rev Fr Babangida Aliyu, the executive secretary of Caritas Nigeria, highlighted that the distribution of agricultural tools is not merely a handout but a means to restore dreams and reduce poverty. Local traditional rulers, including Oba Adewumi Daramola, expressed appreciation for the initiative and urged beneficiaries to utilize the tools responsibly to avoid misuse.
