Catholic Priest Urges Apology from VeryDarkMan for Mocking Arome

Rev. Fr. Chinenye John Oluoma, a priest of the Catholic Archdiocese, called on the online critic VeryDarkMan (VDM) to apologize to Apostle Osayi Arome after VDM was seen mimicking the clergyman in a video. On September 18, 2026, Fr. Oluoma posted on X (formerly Twitter), arguing that no provocation justifies insults or ridicule directed at another person.

He referenced scripture, specifically the confrontation between Archangel Michael and the devil over Moses' body, to illustrate that even in tense situations, one should not resort to abuse. Fr. Oluoma suggested that VDM's mocking behavior crossed a moral and ethical line, regardless of any grievances.

He also addressed broader issues regarding Nigeria's national identity, asserting that spiritual fervor does not solely define the country's potential, comparing Nigerians to citizens of more prosperous nations like China and the UAE.
