CBN and AWBFA Push for Female Leadership in Banking

The African Women Bank Finance Association (AWBFA) conducted its maiden conference in Lagos, focusing on advocating for stronger female leadership in the banking sector. Prominent figures, including Wassila Amor and Dina Amor, attended the event, which aimed to increase female representation in leadership roles across various financial institutions.

Monsurat Vincent, Director of Strategic Management and Innovation at the Central Bank of Nigeria, highlighted the apex bank's commitment to embracing female leadership and enhancing mentorship. Piu Olanrewaju, President of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, noted the essential role women play in redefining financial excellence and driving economic growth.

The conference featured a panel moderated by Tolu Ajibola, discussing barriers to women's representation in Africa's banking sector. Felicia Tamuno pointed out the need for women to mentor emerging professionals.

The event concluded with awards presented across 20 categories, recognizing outstanding contributions in the financial sector.
