CBN to Auction N900 Billion in Treasury Bills Today
On October 7, 2026, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on behalf of the Debt Management Office (DMO), will conduct an auction offering N900 billion in Nigerian Treasury Bills (NTBs). The auction will feature N700 billion in 364-day bills, N100 billion in 91-day bills, and N100 billion in 182-day bills, with settlement scheduled for October 8.
This auction marks the first NTB sale of the fourth quarter of 2026. The DMO is expected to release an indicative issuance calendar for the quarter, detailing planned NTB offers and auction dates.
The 364-day bill constitutes approximately 77.8% of the total offer, indicating a focus on longer-dated Treasury bills. The one-year NTB stop rate has decreased to 15.89%, following a 350-basis-point reduction in the Monetary Policy Rate to 23%.
The previous auction on September 23 saw strong demand, with total subscriptions reaching N4.23 trillion, predominantly for the 364-day bill.
