CBN Plans N500 Billion Treasury Bills Auction for Q3 2026

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on behalf of the Debt Management Office (DMO), has announced a final auction of N500 billion in Treasury Bills scheduled for September 23, 2026. This auction will be the last for the third quarter of 2026.

All Money Market Dealers are instructed to submit their bids via the CBN’s S4 Web Interface between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on the auction day. Successful bidders will receive allotment letters on September 24, 2026, and must complete payment into their CBN accounts by 11:00 a.m. that same day.

The N500 billion offering includes N100 billion for 91-day bills, N100 billion for 182-day bills, and N300 billion for 364-day bills. This auction concludes the CBN's Q3 2026 Treasury Bills Issuance Programme, which aimed for N5.8 trillion in gross issuance.

The programme included N900 billion in 91-day bills, N900 billion in 182-day bills, and N4 trillion in 364-day bills. The CBN has held multiple auctions throughout the quarter, with September's total potentially exceeding N2.4 trillion.
