CDS Credits Military Success to Collaboration with Agencies

General Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), attributed recent operational successes by the Armed Forces of Nigeria against terrorists to ongoing collaboration with various security agencies, including the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services. This synergy has resulted in significant achievements in combating terrorism, kidnapping, and secessionist activities.

The CDS's remarks followed a declaration of victory over terrorist groups by the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd.), who noted a reduction in terrorist attacks. Between August 31 and September 3, 2026, the Armed Forces conducted operations that led to the apprehension of seven spies and the surrender of several terrorist fighters.

Specific incidents included the interception of an escapee from terrorist captivity and the arrest of a suspect transporting food to a terrorist enclave. The military's efforts reflect a commitment to protecting lives and maintaining national security.
