Nigeria's CDS Reaffirms Commitment to Operation SAFE CORRIDOR

On Thursday, a high-level meeting was convened in Abuja to review the expansion of Operation SAFE CORRIDOR, aimed at the rehabilitation and reintegration of former militants. The meeting, attended by stakeholders including representatives from the Federal Ministry, the Nigerian Army, and international partners, was addressed by Major General Jamal Abdusalam on behalf of Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede.

The operation, established in 2016, has processed thousands of clients through a structured disarmament, rehabilitation, and reintegration (DRR) framework designed to ensure long-term stability and prevent a relapse into violence. Brigadier General Y.

Ali reported that 117 clients in Borno State recently completed the DRR process. The meeting highlighted the importance of inter-agency cooperation and the establishment of new DRR camps in the northwest and north-central regions, with Benue State formally requesting a new camp.
