CDS Orders Intensified Military Operations Against Terrorism

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen. Olufemi Oluyede has directed military commanders to intensify operations against terrorist groups in Nigeria, particularly in the North East region.

During a visit to troops at the Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri, Borno State, he stressed the importance of strengthening intelligence systems and adopting innovative strategies to sustain dominance across the battlespace. This directive aims to consolidate recent operational gains and prevent recurring security breaches.

Oluyede commended the resilience and sacrifices of the officers and soldiers while urging them to remain focused on their duties. He was accompanied by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt.

Gen. Waidi Shaibu during this operational assessment visit, which occurred less than 24 hours after a suicide bomb attack in Maiduguri.

The CDS highlighted the need to maintain momentum in ongoing operations and ensure troops receive strategic support from the Defence Headquarters to achieve decisive defeat of terrorist elements. Recent reports indicate that 200 terrorists were neutralized in operations, significantly weakening their capacity to regroup.
