Troops Rescue 13 Kidnapped Passengers in Benue State

On April 19, Nigerian troops from Sector 1B of Operation Whirl Stroke rescued 13 passengers who had been kidnapped by gunmen in Benue State. The incident occurred when gunmen abducted 14 passengers traveling from Makurdi to Otukpo, with three individuals managing to escape.

The rescue operation took place in the Ohimini local government area, following reports of the kidnapping. The victims included individuals aged between 18 and 29, who were later evacuated to a general hospital in Otukpo for medical attention due to injuries sustained during their captivity.

Governor Hyacinth Alia appealed for support in addressing the rising trend of local criminal elements exploiting familiar terrain for abductions. Additionally, on the same day, troops responded to a gun attack in Plateau State, rescuing three wounded victims and arresting suspects involved in various criminal activities, including the recovery of firearms and motorcycles.
