Army Rescues Kidnap Victims, Kills Bandits in Benue

From May 24 to May 31, 2026, the Nigerian Army's joint task force, Operation Whirl Stroke, conducted operations in Benue and Taraba States, resulting in the rescue of two kidnap victims and the neutralization of four bandits. Lt.

Ahmad Zubairu disclosed that the operations targeted armed robbery, kidnapping, and drug trafficking. On May 24, troops responded to an armed herder attack in Guma Local Government Area, evacuating injured residents to a primary health center.

The following day, they intercepted suspected abductors along Antegh Zongo Road in Makurdi, leading to the rescue of victims. Additionally, on May 27, troops arrested three drug peddlers and recovered 641 pieces of illicit drugs and N781,000 in cash.

Major General Mose Gara commended the troops for their success and urged the community to provide timely information on criminal activities.
