Chad Unveils First FIFA Arena Pitch in Koumra

On Wednesday, Chad inaugurated its first FIFA Arena pitch in Koumra, marking a significant development in youth sports infrastructure. Installed at School 15, this facility is part of the FIFA Arena Project and is the first of its kind in Chad, joining 142 FIFA Arenas globally.

The Chadian government has committed to installing 23 FIFA Arenas across the country, one in each region, to ensure equal access to quality sports facilities for children. The Koumra FIFA Arena will serve approximately 5,000 children, providing a safe and accessible environment for football.

The inauguration ceremony featured several dignitaries, including Mr. Naïr Abakar, Chad’s Minister of Youth and Sports; Mr. Gelson Fernandes, FIFA Deputy Chief of Member Associations; and Gianni Infantino, FIFA President, who emphasized the importance of providing safe spaces for children to play. The initiative is seen as a foundational step in revitalizing Chadian football from grassroots to the national level.
