FCT FA Women’s Football Tournament Launches in Abuja

The FCT FA Women’s Inter Area Council Football Tournament has officially begun in Abuja, with Alhaji Adam Mouktar Mohammed, the Chairman of the FCT Football Association, reaffirming the Association's commitment to grassroots development. This second edition of the tournament features female teams from all six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory.

Mouktar stated that the tournament serves as a vital platform for discovering and nurturing female football talents, aiming to strengthen the football ecosystem from the grassroots level. He emphasized that the competition is designed to motivate players and coaches, ensuring that female football receives equal attention as the male game.

Mouktar also highlighted the social benefits of football, including keeping youth away from vices and instilling discipline. The tournament's inclusive approach aims to provide opportunities for young players across various communities, despite disparities in facilities.

The opening ceremony was attended by Hon. Ayo Hulayat Omidiran, Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, who supports grassroots female football development.
