Channels TV Cameraman Kani Ben Laid to Rest in Adamawa

Kani Ben, a 44-year-old cameraman for Channels TV, was laid to rest in his hometown of Kangl Girei, Adamawa State, following his death from injuries sustained in a road accident on February 15, 2026. The accident occurred along the Yelwan Duguri road in Alkaleri Local Government Area, Bauchi State, while Ben was part of a convoy covering a project for the North East Development Commission (NEDC).

The crash involved fourteen individuals, including thirteen journalists from various media organizations. The convoy was led by Alhaji Uba Maigari Ahmadu, the Minister of State for Regional Development, and included Bauchi State Deputy Governor Auwal Jatau.

Following the accident, injured journalists were initially taken to Yelwan Duguri Hospital and later transferred to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital for further treatment. Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed expressed condolences to Ben's family and announced the automatic employment of Ben's widow, Sarah, in the Bauchi State civil service.

Mukhtar Gidado, the governor's special adviser on media, praised Ben's dedication to his profession.
