Journalist Kabiru Dies Following Bauchi Road Accident

On February 6, 2026, a tragic road accident occurred in Bauchi State, resulting in the death of journalist Kabiru, who was critically injured. The crash involved a group of journalists covering a project for the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) along the Yashi-Yelwan Duguri road in Alkaleri Local Government Area.

Eyewitness accounts indicated that the driver lost control while attempting to overtake a convoy, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and tumble several times. Kabiru, a cameraman for Channel Television, was initially admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and later transferred to the surgical complex at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital for surgery.

He succumbed to his injuries on February 15, 2026. Kabiru is survived by his mother, two wives, and seven children.

His funeral prayer was led by Malam Ahmad Inuwa at the Bauchi Central Mosque on March 1, 2026.
