Carter Efe and Phyna Shine at Nigeria's Celebrity Boxing Event

On October 1, 2026, at the Chaos in the Ring event organized by Balmoral Promotions in Lagos, Carter Efe defeated Speed Darlington by unanimous decision, extending his unbeaten streak in the celebrity boxing series. Efe dominated the four-round bout, securing a unanimous decision after all judges scored the fight 40-36 in his favor.

Phyna, whose real name is Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, made history by knocking out actress Nkechi Blessing in the first female celebrity boxing bout in Nigeria. Phyna's victory came in a scheduled four-round contest at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island.

Following her win, she announced her intention to pursue professional boxing and named Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia as her next target, leading to a potential future match. The rivalry between Phyna and Nkechi stemmed from a personal dispute over a movie project, escalating from social media to a physical confrontation on a television show.

The event also featured Godday “Zodsolo” Appah defending his title against Ghana’s Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah.
