Shettima: Character Key to Lasting Marriages at Wedding

Vice President Kashim Shettima stated that lasting marriages are sustained by character, forgiveness, and humility, rather than wealth or beauty. He made these remarks at the wedding reception of Aishatu Buratai, daughter of former Chief of Army Staff Lt.-Gen.

Tukur Buratai (retd.), and her husband, Umar Zoru. The event took place on Saturday at Tukur & Tukur Farm along the Abuja-Keffi Road in Nasarawa State, where Shettima served as the Special Guest of Honour.

He urged families to nurture values such as honesty, patience, and compassion, asserting that strong families are essential for national development. Shettima described marriage as a commitment that requires responsibility and enduring values, advising the newlyweds to build their union on forgiveness and character.

He highlighted that the true measure of a family lies in the values it passes down through generations. The reception featured prayers, cultural displays, and was attended by various dignitaries, including traditional rulers and senior military officers.
