Chelsea FC Prepares for Overhaul Ahead of Alonso's Arrival

Chelsea FC is set to undergo a significant squad overhaul with the arrival of Xabi Alonso as head coach on July 1st, having signed a four-year deal. The club's sporting director is prioritizing the acquisition of a central defender, a central midfielder, and a left winger.

Notable signings include Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Geovani Quenda, with an agreement reportedly struck at €40 million, and Strasbourg's Emmanuel Emegha. Additionally, Valentin Barco is expected to join from a sister club, while Kazakhstan forward Dastan Satpaev and Belgian goalkeeper Mike Pender, who impressed during a loan spell at Strasbourg, are also set to arrive.

Concurrently, five players will leave Stamford Bridge as their contracts expire at the end of the month, including academy players Jimi Tauriainen, Sam Rak-Sakyi, Richard Olis, Brodi Hugh, and goalkeeper James Hillson, who has spent a year working alongside the first team. Departures are anticipated in the coming weeks as Alonso aims to challenge for titles again.
