Xabi Alonso to Reshape Chelsea Squad, Five Players Axed

Xabi Alonso, who took charge of Chelsea FC in the summer, has reportedly informed five senior players that they are free to leave the club as he begins to reshape the squad ahead of the new season. The players affected include goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, defenders Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile, winger Alejandro Garnacho, and striker Liam Delap.

Their combined market value is estimated at £160 million. Alonso has hinted at Garnacho's departure amid interest from other clubs.

Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United last summer and had a challenging debut season, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in 43 appearances. Delap struggled to establish himself, managing two goals and four assists in 41 games.

Badiashile had limited action last season, while Disasi spent the second half of the campaign on loan. Jorgensen made 12 appearances for Chelsea.

Alonso has already strengthened his squad with new signings ahead of the upcoming season.
