Sam Kerr Leads Australia to Asian Cup Final with Goal

On Tuesday, in Perth, Chelsea striker Sam Kerr scored the decisive goal in the 58th minute, propelling Australia to a 2-1 victory over defending champions China in the Women's Asian Cup semi-final. This marked Kerr's fourth goal of the tournament, ensuring Australia remains on track for a second continental title, following their triumph in 2010.

The match, attended by 35,170 fans, began with Arsenal forward Caitlin Foord scoring in the 17th minute. China equalized shortly after through a penalty converted by Zhang Linyan.

Despite a strong performance from China, including 14 shots on goal, they could not overcome the Matildas. Coach Joe Montemurro's team will now face title favorites Japan in the final scheduled for Saturday in Sydney.

Australia received a boost with the return of Kei Catley, who missed the quarter-final due to a concussion, while China was without star striker Wang Shuang due to suspension.
