Chevron Wins Bid for PPL 2010 in Nigeria's 2025 Round

Chevron, via its subsidiary Star Deep Water Petroleum Limited, has secured the Petroleum Prospecting Licence (PPL) 2010 in the 2025 licensing round in Nigeria. The announcement was made by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) on July 21, 2026, in Abuja.

Kevin McLachlan, Vice-President of Exploration at Chevron, stated that the award reflects the company's disciplined approach to adding quality acreage to its portfolio. Jim Swartz, Chairman and Managing Director of Chevron companies in Nigeria and the Mid-Africa region, expressed appreciation for the NUPRC's efforts in conducting a successful licensing round.

He emphasized Chevron's commitment to collaborating with the Nigerian government and partners to support the development of the oil and gas industry in Nigeria and contribute to the country's economic growth. The award of PPL 2010 aligns with Chevron's global exploration strategy, which focuses on technology-enabled exploration and selective entry into high-potential opportunities.
