Chibuike Nwaiwu Suspended for Two Europa League Matches

Chibuike Nwaiwu, a 23-year-old centre-back for Trabzonspor, has been handed a two-match suspension after receiving a red card during the UEFA Europa League playoff first-leg match against Ferencváros on August 10, 2023. The match, held at Papara Park, ended in a 1-0 defeat for Trabzonspor, with Kristoffer Zachariassen scoring the only goal in the 17th minute.

Nwaiwu's dismissal occurred late in the match, leaving Trabzonspor with 10 men during the closing stages. As a result of the suspension, Nwaiwu will miss the crucial second leg at Ferencváros Stadion, where Trabzonspor aims to overturn the one-goal deficit.

Additionally, he will be unavailable for Trabzonspor's opening league-phase fixture if the team progresses in the competition. Nwaiwu joined Trabzonspor from Wolfsberger AC in January and has become an integral part of the squad, making two league appearances this season.
