CITAD Launches 18-Month Digital Skills Program for Women

The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has initiated an 18-month program designed to equip women and girls in northern Nigeria with essential digital skills. This project aims to address the gender digital divide and expand business opportunities for women in the region.

Ms. Fatima Babakura, the project officer, outlined the initiative during a series of town hall meetings held across three senatorial districts in Kano State, specifically in Rano, Kano South, Bichi, Kano North, Kano Municipal, and Kano Central.

The program targets women and girls in Kano and Bauchi states, focusing on reducing the gender digital divide by providing relevant digital training. The project is designed to ensure continued learning beyond its duration, with collaborations with partners to explore further opportunities for women in the digital space.

The training programs will be tailored to different groups, including secondary school students and women who have not completed secondary education or higher education.
