CITAD Supports Kano Nomadic Pupils with Uniforms and Materials

On Wednesday, CITAD, led by Executive Director Y.Z. Yau, distributed 100 school uniforms and learning materials to pupils at Bakin Kamanda Nomad School in Danshoshiya Community, Kiru Local Government Area, Kano State.

This initiative aims to support education in hard-to-reach rural communities, particularly among Fulani nomads. Yau highlighted that lack of education contributes to insecurity and criminal activities, urging government and stakeholders to intensify efforts to support schools in underserved areas.

Alhaji Yusuf Harisu, the village head, stressed the importance of prioritizing children's education, while Nasiru Ibrahim Dangora, headmaster of Bakin Kamanda Nomad School, expressed gratitude for CITAD's support but noted challenges such as inadequate classrooms, a shortage of teachers for 300 registered pupils, and a lack of toilets and learning aids. Ghali Sulaiman, Deputy Director of Nomadic Education at Kano State Universal Basic Education Board, commended CITAD's initiative and emphasized the need for educational reform and the construction of nomadic schools across the state.
