CITAD Launches Initiative for Women's Digital Literacy in 2026

The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has requested support from stakeholders in Bauchi and Kano states to address the gender digital divide and expand business opportunities for women and girls in Northern Nigeria. Fatima Baba, the Programme Manager, announced this initiative during a stakeholder engagement in Bauchi.
The 18-month project, which began in February 2026, aims to equip 25,000 women and girls with digital literacy, digital safety, and entrepreneurship skills. The project targets 15,000 beneficiaries for basic digital literacy and safety training, 5,000 final-year secondary school girls for Computer-Based Test training, and another 5,000 women and girls for digital entrepreneurship training.
The stakeholder engagement aimed to gather contributions for improving project implementation, with recommendations contributing to a policy brief at the project's conclusion. Mujahid Ibrahim, Head of CITAD’s Bauchi team, emphasized the importance of partnerships with community-based organizations to reach women and girls in hard-to-reach areas.
