NCC Aims for 95% Digital Literacy by 2030 Through ITU Partnership

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) announced its goal of achieving 95% digital literacy by 2030, utilizing the Digital Bridge Institute's (DBI) designation as an International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Digital Transformation Centre (DTC). Engr. Babagana Digima, the Director of Research and Development at the NCC, made this statement in Abuja during a visit from ITU’s Senior Digital Skills Officer, Ms. Robyn Fysh, and a DBI delegation.
Digima, representing NCC's Executive Vice Chairman and CEO, Dr. Aminu Maida, emphasized the importance of digital literacy for Nigeria's digital economy and the need to include underserved populations in these initiatives. The ITU DTC initiative, launched with Cisco in 2019, has benefited over 870,000 participants globally, with women comprising more than half.
Fysh praised the collaboration between ITU and NCC, while Mr. David Daser, President and CEO of DBI, noted that DBI is the first institution to hold both ITU Academy Training Centre and DTC designations simultaneously, stressing the need for ongoing support to expand digital skills training nationwide.
