Ezekiel Wins Gold in Men's 400m Hurdles at Commonwealth

At the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Nigeria's Nathaniel Ezekiel secured the gold medal in the men's 400m hurdles, finishing in 48.47 seconds. England's Jake Minsull earned silver with a time of 48.99 seconds, while Jamaica's Assinine Wilson took bronze at 49.22 seconds.

This victory was crucial for Team Nigeria, which had concerns about meeting its projection of 16 gold medals, following a total of 12 golds at the previous Games in Birmingham. In the men's 200m final, Nigeria's Udodi Onwuzurike won silver with a season-best time of 20.09 seconds.

Team Nigeria is optimistic about increasing its medal count, with the mixed 4x400m relay team set to compete after winning their heat in a record time of 3 minutes 14.58 seconds. Ruth Usoro qualified for the women's long jump final with a leap of 6.77m.
