Cleric Urges Christians to Engage in Politics for Justice

Revd William Aladekugb, the Archbishop of Ibadan, addressed the first session of the 10th synod of the Diocese of Ibadan, themed "Cast Bread Upon Water." He urged Christians to actively participate in politics to promote righteousness and justice within the community. Aladekugb noted that political engagement is essential for Christians, as it aligns with their allegiance to Jesus Christ.

He encouraged the congregation to vote and advocate for truth, emphasizing that true hope lies in God rather than human governance. He lamented the lack of interest among Christians in politics, which he believes allows politicians to make decisions without accountability.

Aladekugb also highlighted the ongoing insecurity in Nigeria, calling for the federal government to take decisive action against terrorism and banditry. He acknowledged the efforts of security agencies while urging the government to prioritize the safety of citizens.

Governor Seyi Makinde was mentioned as a leader who listens to the people and implements progressive policies.
