Archbishop Aladekugb Urges Politicians to Prioritize Security

Rev. William Aladekugb, the Archbishop of Ibadan Province and Bishop of Ibadan North Anglican Diocese, addressed the pressing security challenges facing Nigeria, urging politicians to prioritize national security over winning elections.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Ibadan on Monday, Aladekugb warned that neglecting security issues could lead to greater dangers for the nation. He expressed concern over the increasing levels of terrorism, banditry, and kidnappings, stating that the situation has become worrisome.

Aladekugb criticized politicians for focusing on electoral gains while the country suffers from unchecked violence, including killings by bandits and herdsmen. He lamented the impact of insecurity on families, children, and the economy, noting that many citizens are living in fear and that the situation has deterred investors.

The Archbishop called for a collective effort to address these issues and emphasized the need for prayer and thanksgiving among Nigerians, particularly Christians, during the Pentecost season.
