Civil Society Demands ICPC Probe of APC Candidate Zachaius

The Coalition of Civil Society Groups in Nigeria has called on the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Commission (ICPC) to investigate Engr. Toyin Okoro Zachaius, the All Progressive Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Ekiti South Federal constituency. The coalition's national coordinator, Comrade Victor Kalu, addressed a press conference in Abuja, alleging that Zachaius, while serving as Senior Legislative Assistant to Hon. Tajudeen Abbas at the National Assembly, operated as the Managing Director/CEO of a private company, Zac-Lawremz Nig.

Ltd, which contravenes public service rules. He is accused of receiving a salary from the National Assembly while being a beneficial owner of the private company and lying under oath in submissions to the ICPC.

Kalu emphasized the need for the ICPC to resist political pressure from Sen. Adedayo Adeyeye, who allegedly attempted to influence the investigation, and called for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene against such intimidation.
