Commonwealth Council Boosts Manufacturing in Nigeria

The Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC), represented by Chief Executive Officer Ms. Samantha Cohen, is actively facilitating the establishment of manufacturing firms in Nigeria to promote the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

During her visit to Nigeria, Cohen emphasized that local manufacturing is crucial for economic prosperity and can significantly lower the cost of living for residents. She highlighted the strategic partnership with the Russell Smith Group, which is pioneering additive manufacturing in Nigeria, aiming to build one of the largest factories in the world for this purpose.

Cohen noted that additive manufacturing, particularly using 3D printing with metal powder, can create parts for various sectors, including automotive and defense. The initiative is set to pilot in Lagos, with plans to replicate the model across Nigeria and Africa, thereby promoting trade and investment within Commonwealth member states.
