Commonwealth Fencing Championships Set for Lagos in August

The Commonwealth Fencing Federation (CFF) has announced that 20 countries will compete in the upcoming championships scheduled to take place in Lagos, Nigeria, from August 9 to August 14. The announcement was made in a statement issued by the CFF's media department.

India will have the largest representation, with 67 fencers participating across various categories, including Veteran, U-23, Para, and Senior events, competing in epee, foil, and sabre disciplines. Other participating nations include Bangladesh, Botswana, Cyprus, England, Ghana, Guernsey, Jamaica, Kenya, Mauritius, Namibia, Northern Ireland, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, The Gambia, Togo, and Wales.

CFF President Dufour Marie-France described the championships as a landmark event, marking the return of the competition to Africa after a decade, since it was last held in Cape Town, South Africa. The Lagos edition will also introduce U-23 individual events into the established Senior and Veteran championships.
