Tobi Amusan Joins Team Nigeria Camp for Commonwealth Games

Tobi Amusan, the reigning Commonwealth Games women's 100m hurdles champion, has arrived at Team Nigeria's training camp in Aberdeen, Scotland, to prepare for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Amusan is a key medal prospect for Nigeria, targeting her third consecutive title in the women's 100m hurdles after winning gold in 2018 and 2022.

She has already secured a place in the season-ending Diamond League final in Brussels, Belgium, with four meets remaining. The 29-year-old athlete successfully defended her African title earlier this year in Ghana, posting a season's best time of 12.28 seconds on three occasions.

However, Team Nigeria's preparations faced a setback with the withdrawal of long jump star Ese Brume due to injury, which ends her hopes of defending her title. Ruth Usoro has been drafted into the squad to compete alongside Prestina Ochonogor in the women's long jump event.
