Tobi Amusan Wins Bronze in Commonwealth Games Hurdles

Tobi Amusan, representing Nigeria, suffered a shock defeat at the Commonwealth Games, finishing third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 12.60 seconds. She was outperformed by Devynne Charlton of The Bahamas, who won gold in 12.33 seconds, and Jamaica’s Megan Simmonds, who secured silver in 12.41 seconds.

This marks Amusan's slowest time for a podium finish at any major championship since her gold medal victory at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Despite being the heavy favorite and having previously won gold at the last two Commonwealth Games, Amusan had a poor start from lane 4, forcing her to chase from the first hurdle.

She managed to recover in the last 30 meters to clinch third place, ensuring a medal in the 100m hurdles for the third consecutive Games. This bronze adds to Nigeria's tally of six medals in athletics at the Games, which includes two golds and one silver earlier in the day.
