Community Policing Essential for Nigeria's Security Challenges

Dr. Ibrahim Moham Ajia, a security expert and former governorship aspirant in Kwara State, has called for the adoption of community policing as an effective framework to tackle insecurity in Nigeria. In an interview, he emphasized that community policing would enable security agencies to gather vital information from local communities, which are often soft targets for violent non-state actors.

Ajia noted that recent events in the country demonstrate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to addressing security challenges, particularly through the appointment of Christoph Musa as the new Minister of Defence. He criticized the politicization of security issues and urged Nigerians to prioritize national interest over political and religious differences.

Ajia asserted that the current security challenges in Nigeria require a collective approach, transcending mere kinetic responses, and called on all citizens to support the government's efforts in combating insecurity.
