CAC to Enforce Business Letter Requirements by 2026

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) announced that it will begin enforcing statutory requirements for company business letters on August 1, 2026. Companies are required to clearly display key details in their business letters, including the registered name, registration number, and the names of directors, including their first names, initials, and surnames.

For non-Nigerian directors, their nationality must also be included. The enforcement will cover sections 304(1), 304(2), and 304(1)(c) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020.

The CAC warned that companies failing to comply with these requirements will face sanctions. The commission emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability and urged affected companies to adhere to the provisions before the enforcement date to avoid penalties.
