CAC to Enforce Business Letter Rules from August 2026

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) announced that it will begin enforcing statutory requirements for the content of company business letters on August 1, 2026. Companies are required to clearly display key details, including the company's registered name, registration number, and the names of directors, including their former names and nationalities for non-Nigerian directors.

This requirement applies to all business documents, including invoices, quotations, and official correspondence. The enforcement will cover the full application of sections 304(1), 304(2), and 304(1)(c) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020.

The CAC warned that companies failing to comply with these provisions will face sanctions. It is crucial for companies to adhere to these requirements to avoid penalties, as the commission will enforce compliance rigorously starting from the specified date.
