Makinde: Competence and Loyalty Key for Successor in 2027

During the 12th Annual Ramadan Public Lecture held on Thursday, 12th, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde emphasized that the criteria for selecting his successor in the 2027 gubernatorial elections will be based on competence and loyalty to the state. He noted that loyalty has enabled his administration to achieve significant milestones, including the payment of N25 billion in cleared gratuity arrears owed by previous governments and an increase in monthly gratuity payouts from N1 billion to N3 billion.

Makinde also highlighted the upgrade of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport to an international airport as a major achievement. He expressed gratitude to the Muslim community for their prayers and support, urging them to remain steadfast in their prayers for the government.

The event featured guest lecturer Sheikh Jamiu Ajadi Sanusi, who commended the governor's development strides. Makinde donated seven buses to selected mosques in the state to support the propagation of Islam.
