Makinde Urges Appointees to Declare 2027 Election Intentions

On Thursday, during the 2026 Iftar program held at the Frontage Banquet Hall of the Government House in Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde called on political appointees to openly declare their intentions for elective offices ahead of the 2027 general elections. He instructed aspirants to pursue their ambitions under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and emphasized the importance of loyalty and commitment to the development of the state.

Makinde noted that the directive became necessary due to claims that appointees had not received clearance to seek political office, despite the Independent National Electoral Commission's announcement regarding the election timeline. He encouraged those interested in contesting positions, including the governorship seat, to feel free to do so.

The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal and former Governor Olubadan Rashidi Ladoja, among others.
