CAF Postpones 2026 WAFCON to July-August in Morocco

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the postponement of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) to take place from July 25 to August 16, 2026, in Morocco. The decision was announced on a Thursday at the end of the week, following speculation regarding the tournament's fate.

Originally, the tournament was scheduled to run from March 17 to April 3, but CAF adjusted the dates to guarantee proper organization of Africa's flagship women’s football tournament. Morocco was awarded the hosting rights in October 2024, and discussions are ongoing regarding the involvement of CAF and FIFA stakeholders in staging the event.

Key logistical details, including the kickoff date, venues, knockout stage confirmations, and arrangements for journalists and match officials, are still pending. CAF expressed confidence that the tournament will meet expectations, emphasizing the importance of thorough preparations and promotional activities leading up to the event.
