WAEC Introduces New Subjects for 2026 WASSCE, Sparking Confusion in Lagos Schools

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has introduced new subjects for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), leading to confusion among students at a secondary school in Ikeja, Lagos. The changes are a result of Nigeria's curriculum revision, aiming to reduce subject overload and incorporate digital literacy and entrepreneurship studies.

However, there is uncertainty surrounding the implementation timeline and implications for current SS3 students. WAEC spokesperson Moyosola Adesina and Federal Ministry of Education's Director of Press, Folashade Boriowo, have not provided clear explanations, leaving stakeholders anxious.
