Nigerian Cooking Gas Prices Surge to ₦8,081.75 in October, NBS Reports

The National Bureau of Statistics reported a sharp rise in cooking gas prices in Nigeria, with the average price of a 5kg cylinder increasing by 26.36% to ₦8,081.75 in October. The data revealed a year-on-year increase of 16.86%.

Prices varied across states, with Borno recording the highest average price. The North-West geopolitical zone had the highest average retail price for a 5kg cylinder.

The surge in prices was attributed to industrial actions and maintenance activities by key players in the oil and gas sector, including PENGASSAN and Dangote Refinery.
